Anna was born and raised in Russia. She came to New York just in time for her 19th birthday, fell in love with the city of lights and never looked back! Initially, Anna's typical "New York" routine included a host of unhealthy and body-stressing practices: hard work with little to no physical activity, poor eating habits and cigarette smoking. One day, however, inspired by a sudden urge to improve her lifestyle, Anna embarked upon a new regime: with determination, she quit smoking, replacing that nicotine fix with exercise that included running and working out in the gym. But the long stint of physical idleness took its toll and thwarted Anna's rebound; in her attempts to improve her health, Anna ruined her knees and the discs in her back gave out. As a last resort, her physical therapist suggested trying yoga. In 2000, Anna stepped into a yoga studio on Lafayette—and she's been hooked ever since. The fitness she sought took root and flourished, resulting in a serene mind and a much healthier body. After several years of practicing in different studios, she discovered Yoga Sutra in the heart of New York.
Anna completed her 500 hour certification in January 2010. She has been blessed to study with Christopher Hildebrandt, Guta Hedewig, David Hollander, Dr. Jeffrey Rubin and Srivatsa Ramaswami, as well Dr. Edwin Bryant in the lineage of TKV Desikachar, BKS Iyengar, and K Pattabhi Jois. Anna completed a Yoga therapy intencive week with TKV Desikachar and Gary Kraftov at Yoga Journal Conference in 2009.
