Tuesday thoughts on shape shifting

If someone would tell me “Get up at 4:30, hop on the train, practice yoga, run to Grand Central to catch the metro north train, go to work to your corporate job by 8:30″ a few years ago – I’d think they were only joking. I had “better things” to do with my time…

I shifted my life and transformed my habits in many years; and even thought people do not change, but they can change the destructive behavior.  I’ll elaborate on it in other posts.

In any event, I’ve decided to shift my schedule to practice my newly discovered Astanga practice in the morning.  I committed myself and now I do it! No questions asked…I imagine myself getting up, dress, smile and I tell myself “just get up” before I go to sleep. I try to get up early and practice in my apartment if I don’t go to the studio so I can simply car pool at 6 am to work. Of course, it does not always work this way. I shifted my idea about me getting up earlier and doing something that I love.  I was able to change my perspective on time and it really worked.

I’d like to share the story about my upcoming weekend workshop.

I’ve got an e-mail update from Omega institute about “Shapeshifting into Higher Consciousness; Heal & Transform Yourself & Our World” with John Perkins (http://www.johnperkins.org/). He’s classic exposé, Confessions of an Economic Hit Man, spent over 70 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and is published in more than 30 languages. He also wrote: The Secret History of the American Empire, which provides a plan for creating a sustainable, just, and peaceful world and many more. You can go to his web-site for more info.

My boy-friend got really interested and bought Shape Shifting book for me. I completely lost track of time reading this book, as I was sitting on the metro-north after my practice.  It’s really in-line with what I practice and teach! He is describing our modern world and how we go about distorting it; talks about the ancient wisdom in a form of a story telling, a personal story of his journeys.

I’ve highlighted a few quotes identifying my core believes:

“You must be able to image it in order to do it”

“My conclusion had been that by changing our perceptions of ourselves and our social and cultural institutions, we cold change our life style”

“The world is as you dream it”

These quotes are from the Matter of Energy chapter where John Perkins talks about his interactions with a shape shifter or shaman, named Itza, with whom he just climbed ancient pyramids in deep Amazon.

At times, I really believe I am not using my full capacity. I see that I can do much more whenever I am pressed by circumstances (it does not have to be painful, just going from usual to unusual: surfing, skiing); believing in my powers and following the dream, knowing that the universe does not really put anything that can’t be handled at the given moment is in the works for me!

From the Institutional versus Personal shape shifting chapter, the dialog between Itza and John about shift away from feminine in our western society:

“This world is basically feminine….Not survival of the fitter – that’s just male concept. Survival is all about nurturing, loving, sustaining – the feminine aspects”

My dear friend, Lina is studding kabala.  She took the class and shared very similar ideas about feminine powers on one of our enlightening beach strolls.

I am so exited about going to Omega for a weekend workshop with John Perkin.

Namaste!
